Ahead of the Christmas rush is a good time to gather inner strength to give us the energy required when creating a happy and peaceful moment for our family and friends. Also we must not lose sight as to who and how we are at any time. Here are a few yoga kriyas, which will help you center yourself, build your adrenal strength and at the same time help you be the one you have been waiting for...
Breath of Fire
A rapid equal inhale and exhale through the left nostril just like sniffing. This breath meditation strengthens the immune system, by accessing the healing energy from the moon, mother of life - which creates an army of white bloods cells in the body, ready to fight any viruses. This process helps the nervous and glandular system to replenish. Do this for one to three minutes.
Whenever you start feeling clogged up or like a cold or flu is coming on, you are in need of the Immune Booster. Close your eyes and concentrate on your third eye, located between the eyebrows. Raise the left elbow to just below your shoulder and position the left hand as if you were taking an oath, touching the tip of the ring finger with the thumb and then closing the right nostril with the right index finger. Next, start a steady and powerful 'breath of fire'.
This lunar breath heals the emotional body by clearing all the unhealthy energies. It also helps remove sorrow, pain and depression. The moon breath energy is needed in the day to compensate for the predominant solar energy. During this meditation you may go through emotional shifts while your body rebalances
Sit in easy pose. Relax your hands in your lap and begin canon breath, breath of fire through a firm puckered mouth, like an O shape. Do that for one to three minutes. This strengthens the adrenals.
When you are feeling frustrated, closed up and want to become more open to the world, here is what to do.
Sit in easy pose, cross your legs, (if you find this position challenging, you can sit on the chair) and close your eyes. Keeping your arms close to your sides, bend the elbows so that the hands and palms are facing each other. As you inhale bring your right arm up into a 60-degree angle, then your left, and continue this movement with hands up and down. Inhale when the arm is up, exhale when the arm is down and continue for five minutes. It is easier if you have some fun rhythmical music in the background.
This is a very vigorous and demanding exercise, which cleanses your lymphatic system. The challenge is to keep up and not stop moving. You will find that halfway through will get more demanding but after about two and half minutes it will start to get easier. You have to believe in yourself and trust this process as endorphins, our natural painkillers, will fill up your body and you will experience JOY. You have to break through that point of struggle, because sometimes struggle is good to make us grow stronger.
When you finish, shake your hands up and rest for few minutes to allow the integration of body, mind and spirit to happen.
and here is some advice from those who know...
"You have been telling people that this is the eleventh hour. Now you must go back and tell people that this is the hour! And there are things to be considered: Where are you living? What are you doing? What are your relationships? Are you in right relation? Where is your water? Know your Garden. It is time to speak your truth. Create your community. Be good to yourself. And not look outside of yourself for a leader. This could be a good time! There is a river flowing very fast. It is so great and fast that there are those who will be afraid. They will hold on to the shore. They will feel that they are being torn apart, and they will suffer greatly. Know that the river has its destination. The elders say that we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water. See who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time we are to take nothing personally, least of all, ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth comes to a halt. The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. We are the ones that we have been waiting for."
