How To Stop Worrying and Judging - Mondays With Maya

I'm continuing to talk about how to tackle depression this month and two of the main reasons we get depressed are judgemental thoughts and constant worrying about the future. Last week, I posted a video on my Facebook and Instagram about how to get rid of judgemental thoughts - here is is again in case you missed it. 

How To Stop Worrying and Judging - Mondays with Maya

How to get rid of judgemental thoughts through Kundalini yoga: -

  • Hold out your hands, wrap the left hand around the right hand, thumbs up, gaze at the thumbs with slightly open eyes.
  • Inhale to the count of four
  • Exhale to the count of four
  • Hold the breath for the count of eight
  • Repeat as many times as you need to (from 3 minutes to 11, or more).

Another major factor in depression and anxiety is the excessive worrying about the future. We tend to focus too much on what may happen (which very often never happens at all) instead of focusing and enjoying the now. I have a great little exercise to get us out of this mindset and CUT OUT worrying about the future.

How to get rid of judgemental thoughts through Kundalini yoga: -

  • Join your hands together into fists and simulate chopping wood
  • Inhale as you bring the hands up above your head and exhale a loud "HA" as you bring the arms firmly down, as if chopping wood
  • Do this as many times as you can, for 1 minute to 11 minutes.

Try these exercises and let me know how you get on. They worked for me and I'm sure they will work for you.
