For the whole month of March, I am going to be talking about depression, why we get it and what we can do to make ourselves feel better!
Sometimes we just lose our oomph, our zest for life, we feel depressed, sluggish and down. It all comes down to a lack of serotonin, the happy hormone. Lucky for us, Kundalini yoga has so many exercises which are aimed specifically at creating serotonin so that we can get our happy back! Here's an easy one!
In a comfortable seated or standing position, bring a soft gaze to the tip of the nose, almost cross-eyed. Inhale and exhale through the nose. You may feel a heaviness forming between the brain, the nose and the eyes, which is normal. Close your eyes for a moment until this passes, and then again return the gaze to the tip of the nose. Do this for up to eleven minutes but 2-3 minutes is great to start with.
This exercise will create a lot of serotonin in the brain and will make you feel so much happier almost immediately. Try this exercise this week and let me know how you get on!
