DESCRIPTION

Mayas Yoga For Real Life course is based on the principles of Kundalini Yoga - it is geared towards working with this powerful, divine energy which requires you, as a teacher to be centred in your own power.

This yoga is about the experience as much as the journey. The course is designed to be inclusive of a wide variety of experiences. It features a mixture of lectures, classes, discussions, practical sessions, personal development exercises, revision sessions, feedback from fellow students, group exercises and assignments.

We will encourage you to use this time for reflection and to make notes about your own personal experience during the course. As you journey through the course you will gain the skills, knowledge and experience to teach Yoga For Real Life leading classes with precision and grace.

The course will include the following areas of study -

  • History of Yoga, Kundalini Yoga including Yogi Bhajan and the Aquarian Age
  • Chakras – in-depth practice and theory
  • Breathing for Wellbeing / Pranayama
  • Anatomy and Physiology for Yoga
  • Sadhana – daily spiritual practice
  • Kriyas, Mantras, Meditation, Bandhas and Mudras – theory and practice
  • Teaching Skills and Setting up as a Yoga Teacher

Totalling min 200 hours (180) contact hours.
The SYT will be teaching a minimum of 70% of the course

ATTENDANCE

In order to successfully complete the course, students must attend all days and must complete all homework and assessments. If any contact hours are missed then in agreement with Maya these hours can be made up in private sessions with Maya or one of the course facilitators. We reserve the right to charge additional fees for these catch-up modules.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE & GRADING CRITERIA

1. Essay – on any subject relating to yoga, this could be your own yoga journey.

2. Exam – kundalini yoga, anatomy and physiology

3. Practical Assessment – presenting a full class to Maya and the rest of the group.

In addition sections of your own practice diary will be required along with proof of attendance of 6 kundalini yoga classes signed by the teacher

HOMEWORK

Students will be required to keep a practice diary and complete worksheets from the manual in their own time.

ACCREDITATION

Maya’s Teacher Training course has met the stringent requirements set by Yoga Alliance Professionals, demonstrating that the course is of the highest standard and that our graduates may use the title ‘Registered Yoga Teacher’ RYT as a sign of quality training when they register themselves with Yoga Alliance Professionals.

Details of all students who study this course are shared with Yoga Alliance Professionals. 

Code of Conduct

  • All Students are expected to arrive early for each session so that classes start exactly on time.
  • All students are responsible for their own timekeeping, anyone missing classes will have to make up the contact hours in their own time and arrange with the facilitators to make up this time in private sessions at an additional cost.
  • All students are expected to be aware of others around them and not disrupt the sessions. If students are late for a session, please enter the room quietly without disrupting others.
  • All students are expected to dress in the appropriate clothes for yoga.
  • All students on the course are expected to behave in accordance with yogic principles and adhere to these principles.
  • All students shall follow the health and safety advice given by the qualified instructor.
  • Any student feeling that the current posture is not comfortable or is causing pain shall not attempt to perform the posture, and will discuss the matter with the instructor before attempting the posture again.
  • Any student suffering from any medical condition shall inform the instructor and follow the advice given.
