Hello, dear friends
I had the pleasure and honor of meeting Nobel peace prize winner Tawakkol Karman, and what an amazing human she is. For those who don't know, Tawakkol is the first Arab woman to ever win a Nobel Prize, and the second Muslim woman and the second youngest Nobel Peace Laureate to date. I was so happy I got to meet and chat with her at the Liberatum festival in Mexico, just before I taught a KundaDance lesson in front of 6,000 people (it was so exhilarating - I'll be telling you all about it soon).
Maya Fiennes Meets Tawakkol Karman
Tawakkol is truly an inspiration. A Yemeni journalist who is an advocate for press freedom, Tawakkol has led several protests for reform. She co-founded the human rights group Women Journalists Without Chains, and even though she has been the recipient of several threats and has been the target of harassment from Yemeni authorities, she continues the fight undeterred!
