Hi again, everyone!
I'm throwing it slightly back again this week to when I went to Paris Fashion Week. I got to see my friend, amazing designer, Alice Temperley, CEO of Temperley London, who was there showing her new collection. She is also a yoga aficionado, and I had a bit of a chat with her about why she does yoga!
It was very loud behind the scenes at Paris Fashion Week (so apologies if the video is a bit hard to hear) but Alice says that she does Jivamukti Yoga for an hour and a half every morning that she can to very loud music because it helps her to chill out and helps her be more creative.
Jivamukti Yoga was created in New York in 1984 by dancer and musician Sharon Gannon and her partner, artist and cafe owner David Life after they traveled to India and took the Sivananda teacher training program and met Swami Nirmalananda. Jivamukti means "liberation while living”. Jivamukti comprises of vigorous Asanas (poses) performed in a vinyasa-style series and also incorporates meditation/visualizations, chanting and uplifting music, with each class having its own theme. Jivamukti also advocates animal rights, veganism, environmentalism, and social activism.
Alice is a British fashion designer based in London. She grew up in Somerset, England. Her fashion label, Temperley London which is renowned for its luxurious fabrics and hand-finishes, was launched in 2000. Alice has received many awards including Designer of The Year at the Hollywood Style Awards, English Print Designer of the Year at Indigo, Paris and Elle magazine's Best Young Designer of the Year, and was named one of Britain's top 35 female business leaders in 2006. She was appointed an MBE in the 2011 New Year Honours for services to the fashion industry.
Celebrity fans include The Duchess of Cambridge, Pippa Middleton (who wore a Temperley gown for the evening reception of her sister's wedding), Penelope Cruz, Thandie Newton, Portia Freeman, Eva Mendes, Halle Berry and Sarah Michelle Gellar.
