Mondays With Maya: How to Clear Your Aura

I’m often asked by my clients and friends how to get rid of old, lingering energy. You know, those leftover emotions from the past that seem to keep hanging around and distracting us from the present.

If your aura is cloudy, you might feel fatigued, a little sad, uninspired, and perhaps nostalgic. While we can’t exactly erase the past—nor should we!—there are a few things that we can do to clear the energy and move on in a healthy way.

My first answer, of course, is to move! Physically moving your body not only releases endorphins, which improve your mood and help you manage stress, but also literally gets the energy moving in and around your auric body. Go for a walk, a hike, or head to a yoga class.

Another way to clear your aura? Use the mantra “Wahe Guru, Wahe Guru, Wahe Jio” as you throw your arms backward like you’re splashing yourself with water. As you do this, you’re literally bringing the past behind you. Do this for three minutes, five minutes, eleven minutes—whatever feels good to you!
