Meditation is great for a lot of things but one of the main things people use it for, and quite rightly so, is to reduce stress and anxiety. In this week's Mondays with Maya, I discuss how meditation can help reduce stress and help us lead a calmer life.
Meditation can help with stress, anxiety, depression, fears and insecurities because when we meditate, we stimulate the endocrine system which are all the glands working together (the pituitary, pineal, hypothalamic gland, thyroid, parathyroid, the adrenals, and the reproductive organs) and all of them working together create feel-good chemicals such as dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphins. These are all things we need in our bodies to reduce stress and help us lead a calmer, more fulfilling life.
